Ay neend aa bhi ja k mulaqaat ho sake,

Kafi dinon se khwab main dekha nahi unhain.

Meri har saans se wabista hain teri yaadain lekin,

Shayed k teray khayalon mein mera naam tak na ho.

Ajab ye marhala aaya, k hijr-o-qurb yaksaan hain,

Asar ab kuch nahi hota, jafa karlo, wafa karlo.

Teri justuju, tera intizar aur akela main,

Thak k muskura diya jab ro nahi paya.

Meray honton pe aani pyaas rakh do aur phir socho,

K iss k baad bhi dunya may kuch paana zarori hay.

Chamka na karo jugno ki tarah shaam ko Mohsin,

Lay jaonga muthi main kisi rooz chupa kar.

Hamain likh kar kisi lamhe kaheen mehfooz kar lo tum,

Tumhari yaad se dekho nikalte ja rahay hain hum.

Qayamat may Khuda poochay, sataya tum ko kis kis nay,

Isharoon se bata dengay yahi sarkar bethay hain.

Kon kehta hay k sufaid rang may wafa hoti hay,

Agar sufaid rang may wafa hoti to namak zakhmon ki dawa hoti.

Thi hayat jin se roshan wahi ban gaye hain dushman,

Yeh khuloos kya bhala hay, mujhe sochna parega.

Lafz taseer se bantay hay talaffuz se nahi,

Ehl-e-dil aaj bhi hay ehl-e-zuban se aagay.

Chubti hay qalb-o-jaan ko sitaroon ki roshni,

Ay chand doob ja k tabiyyat udaas hay.

Kahin ye teri muhabbat ki inteha to nahin,

Bohut dinon se teri yaad bhi nahi aayi.

Chor denge ik din tum se muhabbat karna ay dost,

Bus zara badan ka saans se rishta to toot jane do.

Shiddat-e-tashnagi may bhi gherat-e-mehkashi rahi,

Uss ne jo pher lee nazar, main ne bhi jaam rakh diya.

Shola hay jo andar wo qalam tak nahi aata,

Kis aag may mera hunar jalne laga hay.

Kabhi ulfat bhara lehja, kabhi utra huwa chehra,

Samajh mein kuch nahi aata, bata meri gunah kya hay.

Yeh husan, yeh ada, yeh nazakat, yeh bankpan,

Sab khubiyan hain tujh may magar bewafa hay tu.

Mila kar khaak may mujh ko, wo iss andaz say bolay,

Khilona tha ye matti ka, kahan rakhne k qabil tha.

Kahan ho tum chale aao muhabbat ka taqaza hay,

Gham-e-dunya say ghabra kar tumhay dil ne pukara hay.

Main jisay pyar ka andaz samajh betha hoon,

Wo tabassum wo takallum teri aadat hi na ho.

Koi mil jaye tum jaisa ye namumkin hay,

Par tum bhi koi dhoond lo hum jaisa ye itna aasan nahi.

Donon hathon se chupa rakha hay rukhsaron ko,

Kis tarah baanp liya tum ne irada mera.

Na raha karo udaas os bewafa ki yaad mein Amir,

Woh khush hay apni dunya mein teri dunya ko ujarh kar.

Bohut bebaak aankhon mein muhabbat tik nahi pata,

Nuhabbat mein kashish rakhne ko sharmana zarori hay.

Waseem sadiyon ki aankhon se dekhiye mujhko,

Woh lafz hoon jo kabhi dastaan nahi hota.

Kaash iss khwab ki tabeer ki mohlat na mile,

Sholay ugtay nazar aye mujhe gulzar k beech.

Tum mujhe kabhi dil kabhi aankhon se pukaro,

Ye honton k takalluf to zamane k liye hain.

Na sawal-e-wasl, na arz-e-gham, na hikayatain, na shikayatain,

Teray ehd main dil-e-zaar k sabhi ikhtiyar chalay gaye.

Ye muhabbat aisa munfarid khel hay Ghalib,

Jo seekh jata hay wohi haar jata hay.

Ik din hamaray aansoo hum say poch bethay,

Humain rooz rooz kyun bulatay ho,

Hum nay kaha hum yaad un ko kartay hain,

Phir tum kyun chalay aatay ho.

Saanp das lay to hay taryak ka imtihan bohut,

Admi das lay to har saans bikhar jati hay.

Yeh afsana-e-muhabbat, yeh kahaniyan wafa ki,

Koi aur zikr chero, mera dil laho laho hay.
